“I know dinner can be like who is who sometimes, but everyone here is real friends,” says Smith. “As for Rosewood, my God, I can’t even believe I managed to win this but for some reason whatever happens to me, I’m on my feet.” Clara Cornet and Luca Pronzato first met in early 2019 at one of the makeshift restaurants he organized on the terrace of a mutual friend in Paris. Luca, founder of creative culinary collective We Are Ona, first noticed Clara—head of Instagram’s fashion collaborations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa—for her shoes: sky-high heels that, while perfect for the catwalk show Clara attended earlier that day, became a burden later in the night. “I was wearing my highest heels in the middle of Paris Fashion Week, and he offered to let me wear his shoes — he took them off and gave me his Birkenstock sandals to make me feel more comfortable,” Clara says of their Cinderella backstory. “The rest is history.”
Nearly four years later, on July 8, 2023, the two married in a civil ceremony at City Hall. In true French style, Clara wore a vintage Chanel white tweed gown by Virginie Viard paired with a Sophie Bille Brahe necklace, earrings and ring. Luca, meanwhile, opted for a Fursac striped suit by menswear designer and vintage guru Gauthier Borsarello. Their two-and-a-half-year-old son, Leo, also dressed for the occasion, in what Clara described as “the cutest” white Bonpoint. At his parents’ wedding, he brought a small bouquet of lavender flowers.
Once the guests settled in, surrounded by lush greenery and roses by floral designer Winston Flowers, they enjoyed a three-course meal from “Raven Smith’s Men(u)” that included a giant shrimp cocktail, boiled salmon and Dowling’s signature fruit cocktail. Among those who appeared were designer Emily Adams Bode, chefs Andy Baraghani and Laila Gohar, stylist Ian Bradley, new generation art critic Jerry Gogosian, podcaster Chris Black, journalists Sam Hine and Billie JD Porter, and Vogue.com editor Chioma Nnadi. They all brought home a signed copy of the book, with Gohar’s copy poking out of her Prada Cleo purse.
